About Me
In 1972, as a young teenager growing up in Marin County, CA, I made what I thought was a random decision to take a woodshop class as my required elective in school. Little did I know that this was life's way of connecting me to an incredibly talented artist who would remain my dear friend and mentor for the next forty years.
I did woodworking all through school, followed by apprenticeships throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. I've enjoyed a career in sales of wholesale and retail building materials, lumber, and hardware. Since 2005 I've worked in my own shop, designing and building fine woodworking.
I blend stylistic elements of contemporary design and eclectic flair, and my desire to let the wood speak for itself is what sets my work apart. Incorporating the natural grain of each species, whether spalted maple or figured walnut, I am able to reveal what was once hidden for all to see. Please enjoy my passion for the beauty of wood.
I love every step of the process....choosing the wood, the scent, the sound of the tools, watching something new and beautiful being formed from what was already there. But nothing compares to that feeling I get when I see what happens to each creation with that first application of the clear, natural finish that makes it come to life....gets me every time!
